Virginia is launching a new program to help employers support their employees’ child care costs. The Employee Child Care Assistance Program, “Ready Together VA,” was created by legislation passed by the 2026 General Assembly and signed into law by the Governor. The state budget, adopted on June 29, 2026, includes $25 million in funding for the program. You can find more implementation details in Item #126 G of the budget.

VECF, as the program administrator, will partner with employers, Ready Regions, child care providers, and community organizations to design a program that truly works for both families and businesses. By combining public and private funding we aim to:

• Leverage public and private funding to expand access to child care
• Learn what approaches work best, so we can build smarter programs going forward
